August 2005 Trenton Lofts Newsletter
Dear Dan,
Plans for Broad Street Bank are firming up. There are some new artist spaces available. Also, I have answers to the question, what's cool in Trenton?
Broad Street Bank is Underway

I got an update on the Broad St. Bank from the developer and I've looked through a copy of the plans. None of the units are particulararly oversized so hopefully the rents will be comensurate. BTW - the building will be ALL rental. Also, it looks like there will be "off street" parking available.

Reports from friends who've toured the building are good. I couldn't accept an invitation to do a walk through last week due to a work committment ... pesky work committments.

The developer sought and received a 30 year tax break from city council last week so don't count on the building converting to condo anytime soon.

Schedule:

  • Summer 2006 - Move-in
  • January 2006 - Rental Applications / leasing agent on-site
  • Now - Sign up to receive rental application

You can get on the rental application mailing list by adding your address to the Trenton Lofts contact list or by contacting the developer directly.

8 Peace St. still on track

The electrical and plumbing are done and the contractor is closing up the building.

8 Peace St. was designed by Rich Carroll of Carroll Architects. Rich has done several projects in Trenton and is a big supporter of the effort to re- purpose existing Trenton structures. He's turned 8 Peace St. into a good example of what can be done to update an old building.

Took a nice tour of Adams One

Michelle and I went on a tour of the Adams One building a couple of weeks ago. The developer was nervous that we would see it before all of the work was done. They needn't have worried.

I've updated my comments about Adams One but the highlights are: great workout room, nice library, plenty of upside in the neighborhood and good prices/SF for a new remodeled condo in Trenton.

Artist Studios in Trenton Makes complex

The Trenton Makes building has housed a group of artists for several years and is next to the Conduit Music Club. It's across from the street from the Soverign Bank Arena and the future Performa Entertainment Area.

Annie and Roland Pott own and operate the building which includes several storefronts and a restaurant. The Pott's are very active in supporting the city and in particular the arts in Trenton.

Dowtown Artistsan Space

Anne Labatte (well none Trenton Arts Supporter and commercial realtor) is putting together artistsan studio space in downtown. It's conveniently near the Marriott Hotel, Gallery 125 and Gallery on Lafayette St. Almost as important it's steps away from Cafe Ole where many of Trenton's area artists conspire on creative projects.
Map to Cool Trenton

If you don't get the Trenton Downtowner you'll have missed my article called Map to Cool Trenton. It occured to me that the only way a person can navigate a new city is by being told about the nice parts. A healthy portion of the arts and entertainment that happens in Trenton happens in the Cool part that I outline in the article.
Trenton 2 Nite

Local restaurants welcome you with food and drink specials. Local businesses offer art, unique jewelry, and gifts. Second Friday of every month. This month Gallery 125 hosts an opening reception of Studios @ 219, Virago plays on Front & Warren Streets, Clifford Adams performs with Inner Flight at the Trenton Marriott, and Kelli Dunham and Dale Sorenson perform a new play at Café Ole.
